XScreenSaver is the standard screen saver collection shipped on most Linux and Unix systems. Its a tiny thing in the scheme of things, I suppose: but KDE doesnt ship with any screensavers at all, and although one can always install the xscreensaver. To add this bundle, enter: sudo swupd bundle-add xscreensaver. Click Add to confirm the new Startup Application. Click Add and type XScreenSaver in the 'Name' field and xscreensaver -nosplash in the content field. Type 'Startup Applications Preferences' and click to run this application. Install this package if you prefer xscreensaver to gnome-screensaver. Click 'Show Applications' on your application dock.
These all work as both Daydreams and Live Wallpapers. XScreenSaver is a modular screen saver and locker for X11, containing more than 200. The above function, if I run it as Test, returns long file names, but if I run it as Installed, it returns short file names. However, after installing it, the only way I can reach files in the same folder from the executable is if I use full paths. It appears that the screensaver is running from the directory where I put it, from the original file. So, I added the following bit of code to determine the executable's location. So far I have searched in Windows folder, Program Files, Program Files (x86). The Screensaver utility will prompt you to stop the gnome-screensaver process and launch the xscreensaver background process when you start it. Launch the Screensaver utility and use it to configure XScreenSaver and select your screensaver settings.
